Sturgeon Bay will take on Barron at 2:00 Thursday in a Division 4 semi-final at the WIAA Soccer State Tournament at Uihlein Soccer Park in Milwaukee. The EWC/Packerland champion Clippers (20-3-3) had tournament wins over Peshtigo, Wrightstown and Kewaunee before beating Winnebago Lutheran 3-1 on Saturday. Jaden Stevenson (39 goals, 15 assists), Robbie Hohlfelder (35 goals, 10 assists), Levi Haight (17 goals, 5 assists), Brandon Forbes (13 goals, 9 assists) and Nick Greenlaw (10 goals) are the offensive leaders for the Clippers.
The Golden Bears (18-3) finished 3rd in the Middle Border Conference and have wins over Newman Catholic, Phillips, McDonell Central/Regis and Aquinas. Brandon Jenness (18 goals, 22 assists), Zach Clemens (20 goals, 7 assists), Jordan Nevin (14 goals, 11 assists), Abdi Jama (11 goals, 6 assists) and Ian Larson (11 goals, 5 assists) are the leaders for defensive Barron team that has allowed only 7 goals all season.
It’s the third straight trip to the State Tournament for both teams with the winner advancing to their first title game against either University School or Racine Saint Catherine’s.
