Chiefs Suffer First Regional Loss

Denmark beat Northern Door 5-4 at the Class A Regional Tournament at the Sevastopol Town Park in Institute on Thursday.  Denmark took a 5-0 lead after 2 innings and then held off a late Chiefs rally.  Northern Door scored 4 runs in the top of the 5th inning as they loaded the bases with nobody out. David Omilinsky, Jim McInerney and Nick Kita all reached base and scored on a wild pitch, sacrifice fly by Drew Tanck and RBI double from Matt Hecht.  The Chiefs had the potential tying and lead runs on base with one out in the 7th but couldn’t score.  Jack Brennan had two hits for ND while Denmark was led by Nick Kufalk (3 hits), Riley Pelishek (2 hits) and Ryan Havlovitz (2 hits).  Pelishek struck out 10 in the complete game win.
