Blue Devils Take Control of Title Race

The Oconto baseball team has a three game lead with three to play after a 4-2 Packerland Conference win over Gibraltar at Billerbeck Field in Fish Creek on Tuesday.  The Vikings tied the game with two runs in the top of the sixth inning as Casey Weddig hit an RBI double and Ben Johnson followed with an RBI single to tie the game at 2-2.  But the Blue Devils took the lead for good in the bottom of the sixth inning when Balin Welch blooped a 2-run single to shallow left field.  Harry Hintz, Bennett Frazer and Grant Frazer all doubled for Oconto and Grant Frazer went the distance with 10 strikeouts.  Ernie Erickson struck out 9 for the Vikings and didn’t allow a hit until the fifth inning.

Golf
Oconto won the Pioneer Invite at Horseshoe Bay by shooting a 355 while Luxemburg-Casco finished second at 367 and Sevastopol third with a 374.
