NEW Lutheran beat Gibraltar, 78-50, in a boys WIAA Division 5 sectional semifinal at Ashwaubenon on Thursday. The Blazers (16-10) opened a 15-4 lead at the 11:23 mark of the first half only to see the Vikings (13-12) respond with a 17-4 run of their own for a 21-19 lead when Evan Henry hit a three pointer with 6:23 to play in the first half. NEW Lutheran was able to take a 31-26 lead at the half and then opened the second half on a 12-2 run to take control of the game. Samuel Meerstein finished with 30 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals while Marshal Bukowski added 13. Trevor Reinhardt scored 13 of his team high 16 points in the first half for the Vikings while Evan Henry added 8 and Spencer Krause 8 points. The Blazers play Columbus Catholic on Saturday.
