Blazers Beat Pioneers

The N-E-W Lutheran girls beat Sevastopol in the season opener for both teams Friday night, 63-42.  The Pioneers led 5-1 early, but the Blazers turned up the defensive pressure and finished the opening half by outscoring Sevastopol, 29-11.  Sevastopol, who had problems with turnovers and fouls, were led by Zoe Kuehn.  She scored 14 of her team-high 18 points in the second half.  Amber Roalkvin chipped in 14 points in the loss.  N-E-W Lutheran had three players in double figures as Afton Wenger scored 19 points, Lydia Nelson chipped in 18 and Abbey Czaja added 13.  WDOR’s next broadcast of high school basketball will be Tuesday night when the Algoma girls play at Gibraltar.
