Sturgeon Bay beat Kewaunee County 8-7 in 9 innings at the “AA” Legion Baseball Regional in Luxemburg on Friday night. Sturgeon Bay opened a 6-0 lead after 2 innings only to see the Lakers tie the game at 7-7 in the top of the 4th inning. The Bays won the game when the Kewaunee County right fielder dropped a routine flyball that allowed Riley Schartner to score the winning run. Schartner doubled, homered and scored 3 runs while Mitchel Neubauer also had 2 hits. David Van Dreese, who followed Ryan Nelson and Schartner, picked up the win with three innings of scoreless relief. Dan Dorner and Caleb Willems had 2 hits for Kewaunee County. Willems was saddled with the loss despite retiring 15 in a row at one point in the game. Pulaski beat Oconto Falls 1-0 in the opener.
In Institute, Northern Door beat Omro 10-0 behind a no-hitter from Matt Hecht at the “A” Regional. The right hander was a walk away from a perfect game on Friday. Denmark eliminated Oconto 10-3 and Wrightstown beat Chilton 5-1.
