Bays Finish as State Runner-up

Sturgeon Bay lost to Menasha 4-2 in the championship game of the Class AA State American Legion baseball tournament at Mary Rountree Evans Field in Baraboo on Wednesday.  The Twins took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st inning and the score stayed at 1-0 until the Bay’s rallied in the 6th.  Lucas Stephenson and Austin Lardinois started the inning with base hits and Austin Rohe gave Sturgeon Bay the lead with a 2-run single.  But Menasha answered back in the bottom of the inning.  Winning pitcher Richard Vanden Branden drove in 2 runs with a single and later scored.  Sturgeon Bay went (4-2) at the State Tournament and matched a runner-up finish the program had in 1992.  Keith Lehmann and Austin Rohe were named to the All-Tournament team and Lehmann (10X19, HR, 10 RBI) was named the top hitter of the tournament.
