The Door County League was able to get two games in Sunday despite severe storms rolling across the Peninsula. Sister Bay stayed perfect with a win over Washington Island while Baileys Harbor beat Maplewood for their first win of the season. Games featuring Egg Harbor at Kolberg and Institute at West Jacksonport were rained out. Here are the details:
Sister Bay beat Washington Island, 12-2. After a 90 minute delay, Sister Bay broke a scoreless tie with a run in the third. They then added six in the fifth inning. Matt Hecht had four hits, Dusty Johnson had three and Stuart Larsen, Will Henricksen, and Tucker Emerson all added two. Larsen hit a solo homer in the eighth. Ryan Demmin (11-0) went the first six for the win. Mark Woerfel (0-2) went the first five and took the loss.
Baileys Harbor beat Maplewood, 9-2. Baileys Harbor picked up their first win of the season and snapped a 14 game losing streak. Sawyer Johnson had four hits to lead Baileys Harbor. Derek Niedzwiecki added three and Nolan Wagner, Aaron Larsen and Amadee Savard all added two. Wagner homered and Savard (1-7) went the distance for the win. Mickey Le and Chad LaLuzerne both had two hits for Maplewood. Kyle Ploor (3-2) took the loss.
Egg Harbor led Kolberg 2-0 when that game was halted after four innings
Institute led West Jacksonport 2-0 when that game was stopped in the second inning
