Algoma will play Cuba City at 6:35 tonight at the WIAA Girls State Basketball Tournament at the Resch Center in Green Bay.
The Wolves are making their 7th overall State appearance and second in the last three years. The Wolves shared the Packerland Conference title with Kewaunee, the 7th straight season that Algoma has won or shared the league championship. Algoma is led in scoring by Taylor Schmidt (12.5ppg) and Kennedy Blahnik (9.7ppg) and are allowing 38 points per game in the postseason while Cuba City is scoring 60 ppg in the tournament. The Wolves went (11-2) against teams in Division 1,2 and 3 with losses to Kewaunee and De Pere. This is the third State tournament game between the two teams. Algoma beat Cuba City 57-42 in the 1985 Class B semi-finals while the Cubans beat the Wolves 39-35 in 1980.
