12’s Repeat as State Champions

The 12 year old tournament team from the Sturgeon Bay Cal Ripken team won their second straight Wisconsin Cal Ripken State Tournament in Sauk Prairie after a 14-4 win over Bay Port on Monday.  Coach Rob Pollman says it was a big challenge to repeat as State Champions….

Robby Pollman went all six innings for the win, his second complete game of the tournament.  Alex Laughlin hit a grand slam in the second inning for a 5-1 lead in the second inning.  Brandon Stillman also hit a home run and doubled and Spencer Krause added a pair of base hits.  Coach Pollman says that it was a total team effort….

Door County advances to the Ohio Valley Regional in Logansport, Indiana with their first game on Wednesday, July 22nd.

Sturgeon Bay beat Dodgeville, 12-2, on Monday in Marinette.  Jared Hawkey went all four innings for the win and added three hits and Lucas Vanderleest had 2 hits including a double.  Sturgeon Bay lost to Stevens Point 11-4 Monday afternoon.  Jared Hawkey had 3 hits and Frankie Ash and Jack Peterson had two each.  Sturgeon Bay finished 4th out of 11 teams.

Legion
Northern Door was leading Denmark 3-1 in the top of the third inning when the game was called because of weather.  Joe Burlo hit a three run home run in the first inning.
