Wisconsin Cherry Board Election

The Wisconsin Cherry Board is composed of five grower members who are responsible for administering Wisconsin’s Cherry Marketing Order. They secure and distribute funding for research, education, and promotion of Wisconsin grown cherries. There will be two new vacancies on the board and Wisconsin tart cherry growers have until June 15th to vote for those board seats. Only one producer, Barry Peterson of Green Bay, was nominated by the April 1st deadline. Eligible growers can vote for Peterson or write in another eligible producer on their ballots. The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection will be mailing out ballots to those eligible cherry growers next week. These ballots must be returned postmarked by June 15th, or emailed in before that date. The elected producers will serve 3-year terms beginning this July 1st and ending June 30th of 2024.
