The 59th annual fly in whitefish boil, sponsored by the Washington Island Lions Club, is set for Saturday at the island airport. The organization has been putting on the event since 1953 &, over the years, has attracted as many as 200 planes to the island landing zone. Those kind of numbers have pushed the number of meals served in the past to the 700 mark. Besides a great meal, there will also be music, crafts, hayrides, hotdogs & ice cream. Serving will be from 11AM to 1PM. The meal costs $12 for adults & $5 for children. The Washington Island Lions Club uses the proceeds from the event to continue its charitable works in the area.
