Vandalism in County Park Restrooms

This Monday, the Door County Sheriff’s Department received an email from County Parks Manager Burke Pinney detailing recent vandalism in the Tornado County Park where it appears fireworks were lit off inside of the toilets. This appeared to be related to similar previous cases of vandalism reported at Sugar Creek County Park. Once warning signs were posted at that park it seems that those involved switched their activities to Tornado County Park. The Door County Facilities and Parks Department reports of these various cases of vandalism in county park restrooms this month, and now they have responded with additional security measures. Parks Manager Pinney says he has been looking into security cameras to identify those involved. Those involved could face a charge of a class “A” misdemeanor punishable by up to 9 months imprisonment and/or a fine up to $10,000 for each offense. If you have any information on these or other vandalism cases in our county parks, you are asked to contact the Sheriff’s non-emergency phone line at 920-746-2400. The Sheriff’s Department is looking to hold these vandals responsible to the fullest extent of the law.
