A rollover accident involving a utility terrain vehicle on Chambers Island Saturday left a Milwaukee area man injured. Reid TW Leigeois of Thiensville was transported to Ministry Door County Medical Center for treatment of severe abdominal pain. A Door County deputy & an ambulance crew were dispatched to the Holiday Dock in Fish Creek after being told a private boat was bringing an injured man to the dock for further transport to the hospital in Sturgeon Bay. Leigeois was involved in the accident at about 1:40AM & the Gibraltar Fire Department was dispatched to the report of a rollover with the rider pinned beneath the UTV. However, the call was canceled when it was learned that the victim had been freed & was not in need of EMS. A little more than seven hours later, Leigeois was taken off of Chambers Island. He told the investigating officer that he turned too sharp & the machine he was operating overturned. Leigeois was briefly pinned under the UTV until a friend, 20-year old Jacob Roeper, also of Thiensville, freed him. Roeper said he didn’t see the accident & went back to check on his friend when he did not arrive at their destination. The crash occurred near the air strip on Chambers Island.
