Two Road Projects Begin in Door County

Work on two road projects in Door County is expected to begin Monday. A one & a half mile stretch of County S from Highway 42/57 south to Wilson Road will be blacktopped after the existing surface is milled. During the milling operation, portions of County S will be closed to all traffic, except to those who live or work within the closed area. The plan is to have the milling operation completed on Tuesday with asphalt set to get underway on Wednesday. During paving, the road will be open to through traffic, however lane closures will happen during the project. Flagmen will direct traffic. The first lift of asphalt is scheduled to be completed on May 10th. The second lift of blacktop is not scheduled to be installed until June. A detour route using Wilson Road, Neenah Avenue & Highway 42/57 will be established during the milling & paving operations.

A distance of three miles of County Trunk F, from Highway 42, easterly to Maple Grove Road is also planned to begin Monday. The project will include pulverizing the asphalt surface, grading & compacting & placement of new pavement. The pulverizing work will begin on the east end of the project on Monday, between County A & Maple Grove Road. Work will continue in a westerly direction to the project limits at Highway 42. Resurfacing is scheduled to begin the week of May 14th. There will be intermittent lane closures & the plan is to maintain through traffic as safely as possible during the construction. During the duration of both projects, the traveling public needs to be cautious of loose gravel, construction crews & delays during the construction operation. The use of alternate routes is strongly encouraged. Drivers are urged to use caution in the construction zone & obey all special signage.
