Two projects intended to improve 14 miles of Highway 42 in Door County have been approved. The Department of Transportation says Northeast Asphalt of Green Bay is the main contractor. The first project includes resurfacing 12 miles of Highway 42 from the mid-junction of Highway 42/57 just north of Sturgeon Bay to Egg Harbor. The work is scheduled to begin on Monday, September 15th and be completed by October 24th. The cost is $3.4 million.
The second project involves blacktopping on 2.2 miles of Highway 42 from Gills Rock to the Northport ferry landing. Road work will begin on Monday, September 29th and should be completed by October 15th and cost of about $615,000. For both projects the highway will remain open with lane closures and flagging operations. Motorists should anticipate short delays, use caution and remain alert while driving through this or any other work zone.
