Another report that a vehicle went through the ice in Door County. This time, a pickup truck, owned by Ted Lavine of Sturgeon Bay, went down Sunday morning on the ice near Otumba Park in Sturgeon Bay. The investigating officer noted in his report that when he arrived on the scene at about 9:45AM, all he could see was the vehicle’s snowplow assembly on the ice. Lavine said he was the only one in the full size Dodge Ram pickup when it started to sink & he was able to escape without injury. The city man said a firm from Suamico has been contacted to extricate the submerged truck from the bay. The Sturgeon Bay fire department also followed up on the report of a truck in the water & a DNR warden was contacted.
