The Ridges Awarded Sizeable Grant

The Ridges Sanctuary near Baileys Harbor was recently awarded a grant of more than a half a million dollars by way of the National Scenic Byways Program. The money will fund the construction of a handicapped accessible boardwalk, as well as the interpretive exhibits at the new Interpretive Center and at various locations throughout The Ridges campus. Steven Leonard, Executive Director of The Ridges Sanctuary, praised the efforts of the Door County Coastal Byway Committee. He said the hard work of representatives from 8 municipalities, led by Ann Miller in Liberty Grove, has allowed Door County to obtain funding for the promotion and enhancement of many areas along Hwy 42/57, as well as support for their protection and preservation.
