Sunday Morning Fire in Sturgeon Bay

An older home converted into a woodworking shop at 1149 North 4th Avenue in Sturgeon Bay was destroyed in a fire early Sunday morning.  The Sturgeon Bay fire department was paged out at 1:30am and the first units on the scene found the structure fully engulfed in flames.

Eight units and 26 firefighters were sent to the scene.  A neighbor whose home lost electrical power went outside to try to determine the cause and saw the home ablaze.  He then called 9-1-1.  As a total 8,500 gallons water and a small amount of foam was used to put out the blaze. There were no injuries and the cause of the fire is being listed as “undetermined” at this time.  No damage estimate is available.  Fire crews returned to the station at 5am Sunday.
