Sturgeon Bay West Side Waterfront Development In Works

While things have been quiet of late, the process that could lead to the development of Sturgeon Bay’s west side waterfront continues behind the scenes. WDOR News has learned that the city has applied for grant funding that could provide up to $500,000 to enhance the property involved. One scenario has the city purchasing the old Co-Op property, tearing down some buildings and cleaning up the site. The old grain elevator would remain in place as an iconic structure that will draw attention to the waterfront in conjunction with the tower proposed for the Door County Maritime Museum facility. A walkway could take people to a four seasons marketplace offering a variety of Door County products. Information on the city’s grant application is expected in December.
