Sturgeon Bay Street Light Removal

Another list of street lights throughout Sturgeon Bay that could either be removed or relocated has been assembled. Now Sturgeon Bay Utilities is asking residents to weigh in on the matter. The letter to rate payers notes that the city pays over $190,000 for the maintenance & energy use of over 1,100 street lights. In an effort to reduce the costs associated with the lights without impacting public safety, a group consisting of representatives from the police & fire departments & city utilities have reviewed current streetlight locations in order to provide input for the city council on lights that could be removed or relocated. The list of streetlights recommended for removal total 102 & includes locations on both the east & west side of the city, beginning on Claybanks Road & ending in the 400 block of Delaware Street. The list can be viewed at the Sturgeon Bay Utilities web site www.sbunet.com or the city’s web site at www.sturgeonbaywi.org. those who would like to comment on the proposed streetlight removal list can do so by calling the city at (920)-746-2900 or Sturgeon Bay Utilities at (920)-746-2820.
