Sturgeon Bay Residents Can Comment on West Side Waterfront Plans Tonight

Residents will have the opportunity to comment on the construction of a hotel proposed for the former Door County Cooperative property on the west side of Sturgeon Bay during Wednesday night’s meeting of the city plan commission. Developer Bob Papke is proposing to build a 90 room boutique-style inn, with meeting rooms and a spa. According to architect Henry Isaksen, the hotel would occupy just under 18,000 square feet of the parcel, about half the size of the nearby Bridgeport Resort. The building would be five stories tall and include a number of amenities. The hope is to have the facility completed in 2016. The proposal will be considered by the plan commission under the rules for a planned unit development and could evolve while going through the PUD process. The meeting in the city council chambers begins at 7PM.
