Five well-qualified candidates appeared before the Sturgeon Bay City Council Tuesday evening to explain why they should be chosen to replace Joe Stutting as alderman in the 5th district located on the city’s west side. Stutting has taken a superintendent’s job at a school in Iowa & will serve on the council through the end of the month. The list of candidates seeking the aldermanic position included former council-member Barb Allmann, former Sheriff & current county board member Chuck Brann, Jim Larson, James Olson & Jerry Stults. Five of the seven person council cast their ballots for Jerry Stults. During his remarks, Stults talked about his first experience in Sturgeon Bay in 1967 as a member of the US Coast Guard. He also indicated that he gained valuable experience during ten years in a retail setting & spent more than 20 years at Wiretech, including work on the corporate level. The 5th district seat on the Sturgeon Bay City Council will be up for election in April, 2015.
