Storage Shed Fire in Kewaunee

A storage shed was destroyed in a fire early Wednesday morning at the Edward Kalish home at N3910 Riverview Lane, Kewaunee. Kewaunee Fire Chief Greg Hliniak says six units and 20 firefighters were paged out at 3AM and the first units of the scene found the shed fully engulfed in flames and severely damaged. A neighbor was awakened by a “popping” noise and alerted authorities. About 6,000 gallons of water was needed to put out the blaze. A variety of wood items had been stored in the building. Chief Hliniak said a crew from Wisconsin Public Service was called in to shut down electrical service to the shed. He said the fire is under investigation, but he doesn’t believe there is anything suspicious about its cause. Kewaunee fire crews were back at the station at about 6:45AM Wednesday.
