Snomobiler Goes Through Ice Friday

A 59-year old Sturgeon Bay man not only went through the ice while snowmobiling Friday evening, he also received a citation from the Sturgeon Bay Police Department. City police received the report of the accident involving the city man shortly before 7PM & found the submerged snowmobile, & shortly later, the man walking along Claybanks Road. Officers placed the man in their squad car to warm up while he was checked out by emergency personnel. They also noticed the odor of intoxicants & conducted a field sobriety test, which he failed. He was cited for operating a snowmobile while intoxicated. The Sturgeon Bay Police Department is warning residents & visitors to stay off the ice because it is unsafe at this time.
