Skatepark Meeting

A presentation and feedback session on a skatepark in Sturgeon Bay has been scheduled for Thursday evening at 7pm at City Hall with Micah Shapiro, lead designer for Grindline Design And Construction of Seattle, Washington. The firm has been contracted to draft plans for the proposed skatepark on the city’s west side. It has created over 130 poured concrete skateparks, each individually designed to reflect the needs, desires and budget of their community. The public, and especially the skaters themselves, are invited to add their input on features they’d like to see at the park located near the west side ball field.

In preparation for the visit, local surveyor Brian Frisque donated his services to survey the park site. Vanderleest Soil Testing and Steve Baudhuin also donated services. The Sturgeon Bay Skatepark Initiative is a group of skaters, parents and businesses working in conjunction with the Sturgeon Bay Park And Recreation Department to provide a safe place for skateboarders of all levels to enjoy the sport.
