The Sturgeon Bay Skatepark Initiative is one step closer to realizing its goal of building a public skatepark in Sturgeon Bay. The group has received final design plans for the facility projected to be built on the city’s west side at the corner of Madison Avenue & Spruce Street. The free skatepark will be open from dawn to dusk & can also be used by inline skaters & BMX bikers. Designed by Grindline Designs of Seattle, Washington, the facility is intended to be used by skaters of every level, with elements to encourage the youngest beginners. The Sturgeon Bay skatepark will be the first “Grindline” park in Wisconsin. Final construction costs are estimated in the neighborhood of $550,000. We’re told fundraising efforts are off to a good start. The plans for the Sturgeon Bay skatepark will be on display at Glas, the Sturgeon Bay YMCA, at the downtown branch of Baylake Bank & at the City Park & Recreation Department on 14th Avenue.
