Sister Bay’s Cherry Drop Canceled

For the last 3 years, Sister Bay has brought in the new year with their “Cherry Drop” celebration at midnight on New Year’s Eve. This is when they slowly lower a large, red 6-foot tall, 300 pound cherry outside of Husby’s Food and Spirits, half-way up the hill. In just 3 years this has become a popular event which has annually brought many celebratory spectators into downtown Sister Bay on this typically frigid evening. Event organizers have responsibly decided to cancel this year’s cherry drop in the interests of keeping community exposure to COVID-19 at a minimum. The village may still have activities during the week prior to new year’s eve, however, and you can keep up to date on those through the village’s Facebook page.
