There was a single-vehicle crash in the Town of Sevastopol early Saturday morning. Shortly after 3:15 am, a 20 year-old Colorado woman was southbound on Bay Shore Drive in her Mini-Cooper, just south of the Westwood Shores Resort. She later stated that she fell asleep at the wheel. Her vehicle crossed over the center line and ran off the roadway to the left where it hit a driveway embankment and became airborne. While airborne, her vehicle traveled over the driveway, over an address sign, and between a utility pole and a fence. The car then landed on a small tree before hitting the ground again. It then struck a large tree which caused the Mini-Cooper to spin and overturn, coming to rest upside down facing north less than 100 feet from the point it became airborne. The woman had suspected minor injury and received EMS ground transport to the Door County Medical Center. Her vehicle required towing, and she was given a citation for inattentive driving.
