Sheriff’s Department Investigating Storage Thefts

After receiving numerous reports of thefts following break-ins to storage sheds, the Door County Sheriff’s Department is asking residents to check their rental units and their property in Sturgeon Bay and throughout the county. The department is sifting through information on the burglaries and possible suspects. Warrants were executed in Green Bay and many items believed to have been stolen were recovered. Investigators say the culprits would break into the storage shed and take tools, camping and athletic equipment and other items and replace the locks with locks they brought with them. Door County authorities are looking for two men who are believed to be on the run. They are both originally from Kentucky. Twenty five year old Ricky Smithey is five foot five inches tall, weighs 140 pounds, has brown hair, and, brown eyes. Forty five year old William Collman is five foot eight, weighs 180 pounds, has brown hair, a grey beard, and, brown eyes. It is unknown what type of vehicle they may be driving. If you believe that you are the victim of a burglary, contact the Door County Sheriff’s Department or Sturgeon Bay Police and make a detailed report. The more specific the description of the missing items, the better the possibility that the items will be returned if found. The investigation is in its early stages and on-going. It is anticipated that criminal charges will be filed in the future.
