Door County Sheriff Steve Delarwelle has selected his number two man in the department. Pat McCarty, a 20 year Door County law enforcement veteran has been chosen to serve as chief deputy. He will replace retiring Chief Deputy Gary Behling who officially leaves the department on February 2nd. McCarty was selected following a series of interviews. Several other positions are expected to change hands due to movement within the department. As we reported earlier this month, it has been a busy transition for Sheriff Delarwelle who has had to absorb a lot of information in a short period of time. As part of the process, the sheriff is currently attending a special seminar for new sheriffs and police chiefs put on by the state department of justice.
