Senate Approves Alcohol for Peninsula Park Golf Course

The Wisconsin senate Tuesday unanimously passed senate bill eight which will allow possession, consumption & sale of alcohol at the Peninsula State Park Golf Course. State Senator Frank Lasee joined State Representative Garey Bies in authoring the legislation. Lasee says, the bill’s approval by the assembly & the governor’s signature will insure an additional revenue source to keep the course financially sound. The Peninsula State Park Golf Course has been run by the non-profit Peninsula Golf Association under c0ntract with the Department of Natural Resources since 1982. The contract was recently renewed & no tax dollars are used to support the course. However, DNR administrative rules prohibit alcohol use at the golf course. The proposed bill allows persons of legal drinking age to purchase, consume & possess alcoholic beverages in line with similar facilities such as those located at Granite Peak-Rib Mountain & Devil’s Lake.
