Jacob Schulz, Materials Management Director at Ministry Door County Medical Center, was selected to fill out the term of Steve Van Kirk on the Sturgeon Bay Board of Education. Van Kirk vacated his seat when he took a job out of state. Schulz was one of six candidates interviewed by the school board Wednesday evening. Board members said the decision was a difficult one, given the field of candidates interviewed. Schulz & former board member Mike Barry emerged as the top two candidates after the board took a preliminary vote. However, Barry’s decision not to run for the position in the April election tipped the balance toward Schulz. There are nine seats on the Sturgeon Bay Board of Education.
