The Sturgeon Bay Police Department has put together a theft case that could rise to the level of a felony. One of the suspects says, things were taken, but not that much. Eventually, the district attorney will decide. City police got involved after the owner of the White Birch Inn filed a theft report indicating that items & cash, worth about $5,000 were missing. The man said he hired a 47 year old woman from Jacksonville, Florida to run the inn for him. She & her 25 year old companion, also from Jacksonville, stayed at the business. However, they left for Florida & the owner contacted authorities after he found items missing. City police were able to contact the woman by phone & she reportedly indicated that items had been “borrowed,” but not to the extent in the police report. She was told that the matter needs to be brought to a resolution or the district attorney will determine the extent of the charges to be filed.
