A Sturgeon Bay man won the sprint but lost the long distance run early Saturday morning after he attempted to outrun police officers trying to question him on a probation violation. At about 1AM, officers on foot patrol spotted the 26-year old city man drinking at a downtown bar. They knew that he was under a court order to maintain absolute sobriety. When the man saw officers, he began to walk away at a brisk pace. Despite several commands to stop, he took off running. Three city blocks later, he was apprehended. The winded city man was arrested on a probation hold, bail jumping, resisting or obstructing a police officer & possession of drug paraphernalia. He was taken to the Door County jail.
