Several hundred bicyclists, taking part in Sagbraw(Schram’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Wisconsin), will be visiting Sturgeon Bay Monday as part of a journey that starts in Marinette & ends in Kewauskum next week Friday. During their time in Sturgeon Bay, the bike riders will stay overnight at Sturgeon Bay high school. The tentative itinerary also includes stops in Green Bay, Algoma, & Sheboygan. The first “Ride Across Wisconsin” took place in 1978 & was an offshoot of a similar bike ride established in Iowa five years earlier. Ownership of the event has changed hands several times in previous years. In October of 2006, Kathy & Eric Schramm purchased the rights. The Sturgeon Bay Visitor Center will be handing out welcome bags to some of the riders.
