A Door County highway project is part of a $1.8 million contract recently approved by Governor Scott Walker. The road work, which is set to begin on Monday, features the installation of rumble strips along several miles of state highway. Rumble strips alert drivers by sound and vibration that their vehicle has drifted out of the travel lane, allowing them time to readjust their movement and avoid a crash.
A section of Highway 42, from Sturgeon Bay to Egg Harbor, will be worked on by a crew from Century Fence of Green Bay, the prime contractor. The road will remain open to traffic during construction with single lane closures and flagging operations. There is the potential for backups. Motorists are reminded to remain alert when driving through these or any work zones. The project is expected to be completed by early November.
