The Rotary Club of Sturgeon Bay has recently awarded over $20,000 in scholarships to the 2020 graduates of Door County high schools. This year, 17 students were awarded across three different scholarships for their volunteer, academic, and/or personal achievements. The Rotary Rising to the Challenge Award is presented to students who have faced significant challenges and have risen above adversity in their personal lives. This scholarship was awarded to Amelia Scheer of Sturgeon Bay High School. The Rotary Service Above Self Award is presented to students seeking a bachelor’s degree who have made significant contributions to their community by serving others. The 2020 recipients of this award are Kayla Scharrig & Jack Weitman of Gibraltar High School; Carissa Bartels, Chloe Staudenmaier, & Amanda Puccini of Southern Door High School; Georgia Feldman, Nalani Bicoy, Fletcher Hubbard, & Kenzie Blau of Sturgeon Bay High School; and Rylee Lux of Washington Island High School. And the Robert Muckian Technical Education Award is presented to outstanding students pursuing a degree or certificate from a technical college. The 2020 recipients of this award are Dominic Krauel of Gibraltar High School; Abigail Neubauer & Benjamin Slezewski of Southern Door High School; Mason Propsom of Sturgeon Bay High School; and Brooke Kruger and Jacqueline Sowl of N.W.T.C. .
