Roen Salvage Company of Sturgeon Bay has been awarded a $2.5 million dollar contract to dredge Green Bay Harbor for the US Army Corps of Engineers, Roen will remove 161,000 cubic yards of shoaled material from the harbor & place the dredged materials in the Bayport confined disposal facility. Work is expected to begin in early September & conclude by mid-November. The deep draft harbor was last dredged in the summer of 2011. The corp’s Detroit District maintains a navigation system that includes 95 harbors & the great lakes connecting channels that join lakes Superior, Michigan, Huron, Saint Clair & Erie.
