Every year taxpayers & private citizens are forced to pay for the replacement of signs stolen during the year. The Door County Sheriff’s Department was recently informed of another batch of street signs stolen, this time in the Gills Rock area. “Top of the Thumb” signs were taken near Highway 42, North Port des Mortes Drive, & Europe Lake Road. Three private road signs were also stolen at Top of the Thumb Lane. It was estimated that it will cost just under $1,170 to replace the signage.
