A large tree branch hitting a wire off Carlsville Road is being blamed for a power outage that affected a wide swath of the Town of Sevastopol, including the WDOR-FM transmitter Friday morning. At about 9:30am, the lights went out, affecting more than 1,300 customers of Wisconsin Public Service Corporation. That’s about 26% of the WPS customers in the 54235 zip code area.
The loss of power also knocked out one phase of WDOR’s three-phase system, taking out the FM transmitter with it.
Power was restored to the affected area around 11:30am.
