Another meeting of the Sturgeon Bay city plan commission featuring consideration of a proposed hotel on the city’s west side waterfront is set for Wednesday at 7PM in the truck bay at the Sturgeon Bay Fire Department. The planned unit development proposed by developer Bob Papke, if built, would be located at 92 East Maple Street, at the former Door County Cooperative property. The last time the plan commission took up the matter it opted to put off action in order for more information to be presented in public forums. There has been vocal opposition to the plan for a variety of reasons, from aesthetics to competition. In order for the hotel plan to move forward, the seven person plan commission must send a recommendation to the city council which has the final say. The final plat for the Marina View subdivision will also be considered during the meeting.
