Northern Sky Cancels Fall Season in Gould

The Northern Sky Theater Company was poised to celebrate some special anniversaries in 2020. This was to be there 50th year of performing outdoors in Peninsula State Park, their thirtieth anniversary as a professional company, and their first full season in the new Gould Theater in Fish Creek. Now, in a recent press release, they have announced the cancellation of their 2020 fall indoor season. They had hoped to present “Naked Radio” in September and October, as well as “And if Elected” in October. This cancellation is in response to concerns regarding the pandemic, limits on gatherings, union restrictions for its professional company of actors, and the welfare of their many volunteers. They had analyzed numerous possibilities for their fall season, including socially distanced seating which would limit attendance to just 25% of their usual capacity. They attempted to hold off this difficult decision for as long as possible, but the necessary go-ahead for similar public gatherings will not be granted until after their scheduled start of rehearsals. This decision now also allows the company to more fully embrace their virtual season while advancing their new works behind the scenes.
