Two Door County agencies have been combined into one to provide better service to the community. The former Departments of Social Services and Community Programs have merged into a combined Department of Human Services. The merger was effective January 1st. While there is a new name and a new phone number, the new agency will provide all the same services as the previous departments did.
Only 5 counties in Wisconsin have not adopted some type of merged human services structure for their people. The core functions of the new department will remain in the county Government Center in Sturgeon Bay with offices on both the first and second floors. The Senior Resource Center will remain a part of Human Services and will continue to operate at the 14th Avenue location. People who are already receiving services through existing programs will remain assigned to their current worker. Those seeking services for the first time should find it easier to navigate the system.
The new departmentĀ is led by Joseph Krebsbach and Roger Tepe as Director and Deputy Director, both former leaders of the previous agencies. The new phone numberĀ is 746-7155 and community members are encouraged to call or stop in for assistance.
