A woman reported missing on Friday night was found dead in her car in a marina in Sturgeon Bay. Saturday at 11:18am Sturgeon Bay Police were notified that a passerby had discovered a submerged vehicle at the Quarter Deck Marina boat launch. Upon arrival, City Police Sergeant Zager activated the multi-jurisdictional dive team to check the vehicle. In less than half an hour, the divers were in the water and confirmed that a white 67 year-old female was inside with the doors locked and the windows up.
The divers attached a cable and C & W Auto SalvageĀ pulled the vehicle up the boat ramp. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. City police do not believe she was the victim of foul play and her name will be released after an autopsy confirms the cause of death. Sergeant Zager reported that she was a Door County resident with an Algoma mail address.
