Motorists are being reminded that a reconstruction project on Michigan Street in Sturgeon Bay, from 18th Avenue to Highway 42/57, calls for the closure of the street Monday. The area of asphalt pavement that has been pulverized was open to traffic in a gravel state through the weekend, but the road will be closed to through traffic when storm sewer work commences. Except for Monday, access to the YMCA & Lakeside Surgical Associates will be maintained from Highway 42/57 for most of the project. The sewer work will force traffic to be directed to 18th Avenue. All businesses in the Orchard Hill offices will be accessible from 18th Avenue. Detour routes will be posted to help motorists get to & from the highway. Those heading to Ministry Door County Medical Center are encouraged to use the Utah Street entrance. Curb & Gutter installation is expected the week of August 29th with paving to follow once the concrete is cured enough to allow traffic.
