A “bolt from the blue” is being blamed for a fire Tuesday morning that destroyed a garage at the Steven Estes home at 4001 Peterson Rd in the Town of Sevastopol. The Sturgeon Bay Fire Department was paged out at 5:19am and sent 7 units and 31 firefighters. Fire crews used about 3,800 gallons of water to put out the blaze and there were no injuries. Fire crews were back at the station in Sturgeon Bay at 7:35am.
One interesting note, the force of the lightning bolt blew out all of the light bulbs in the nearby home.
