The Jacksonport Thanksgiving parade will step off at 10:30AM Thursday from the Jacksonport fire station, marking the 18th consecutive year that the event has been held. The fun-loving parade, organized by northern Door County residents, celebrates neighbors helping neighbors. Case in point, Maggie DeMeuse. Maggie had been cancer-free for a decade, when the ailment returned last autumn. After a long series of tests, she began chemotherapy treatment and, while she has been cleared to work, she has no job to go back to, meaning the loss of short-term disability and healthcare coverage. Funds collected during the parade, will help Maggie and Larry DeMeuse with the costs related to her treatment. Anyone wishing to participate in the 18th annual Jacksonport Thanksgiving parade and benefit should be at the Jacksonport fire station at 9:30AM Thursday.
