The search for a new Superintendent for the Washington Island School District continues. Current island Superintendent Tim Raymond has taken a similar position with the Cambria/Friesland School District & will begin his new job at the end of this school year. The Washington Island Board of Education is working with the educational consortium, Cesa Seven, to compile a list of candidates for the superintendent’s job. It will be a learning experience for both entities as it marks the first time Cesa-Seven has conducted a superintendent’s search. Except for incidental expenses, the service comes at no cost to the district. The search time table calls for a school board closed session on May 26th to screen applicants. The board will be aided by representatives of the consortium in Green Bay by way of closed circuit television. The candidates who make the cut will be interviewed on May 31st & on a second date, if need be. The final interviews will take place in mid-June. A cross section of the island community is expected to participate in the interviews, helping the Washington Island Board of Education in its decision-making process.
