The final informational meeting on plans to upgrade facilities for the Brussels-Union-Gardner Fire Department will be held tonight (Wednesday) at 7PM at the Brussels Community Center. The fire department and ambulance station project will be the subject of a referendum vote as part of the November 4th election and proponents of the building and expansion plans have been meeting residents of the three towns, one-on-one, to explain why the work should be done. The fire department web site www.bugfiredepartment.com has information on the value of the building project for two stations and the ambulance garage. The site also includes an informational video and other details about the station projects. As part of the effort to upgrade facilities to house a Door County Emergency Services ambulance in the southern part of the county, the Door County Board has voted to provide financial support for the project and has indicated an agreement would keep ambulance services housed in southern Door County for the next 50 years.
